The snowboarder was captured and trapped on the wall for a bit. Her eyes quickly scanned the room, trying to figure out where they had hidden her familiar. Looking past all the old, rusting technology and a large TV, she focused on the pile of scrap metal and called her board back towards her to cut the ink bonds.

After capturing the Snowboarding Mage, Von connected his phone to the large television and began to set up for something. A video call?

"Let him go! Where is he?!" the Iceskating Mage screamed in an unusally deep voice (for a girl), repeatingly trying to slice through Emirayha's mirror shield. She attempted to skate over the shield by creating an icy ramp and going full speed on it.

"Pathetic mage." Emirayha thought. "So helpless without her familiar. Even considering that though, she'll still penetrate my shield in rage if I don't do something or dodge. If she hits, my shield will shatter. If she misses, it could be fatal. Either way, someone's going to shed blood." With this thought, she continued dodging. Her shield had been grazed several times and was becoming very loose, but was still standing just barely, despite its weakness. She noticed Von setting up something in the background and decided to taunt the mage to keep her attention briefly. "Asking for a favor while at our throats? Like we'd ever tell someone like you! And with that tone? Ha! You're sad, really." Emirayha exclaimed brazenly.

Elena saw something move over Emirayha's shoulder and smirked. The air suddenly became much colder, and an eerie, inhuman laugh filled the air. The Snowboarding Mage's Familiar came up from under Emirayha and spat at her, causing her body to freeze up. Evelyn appeared behind her, ready to rip Emirayha apart with the saw blade side of her board. "We need all the Esse we need," she muttered.

Von, noticing that Evelyn had escaped, created an ink shield around himself to keep her from destroying his tech.

They were about to triumph. The snowboarding mage had discovered her familiar beneath the rubbish, and its breath stiffened Emirayha's body into a deadlock. Her world was absolutely silent and the room was unnaturally frigid. The malevolent mage's cackle echoed around the room and throughout Emirayha's head. The mage was ready to strike. Von lie in the corner, tinkering with some sort of technology. Emirayha was in danger, but she was ready for whatever came next. What was there to lose? Even if she was reckless at times and seemingly emotionless, she knew never to lose hope. "I have nothing to lose. I'll live on whether you succeed in killing me or not. For I am already dead inside. My death will not change your pathetic state. So go ahead. Don't hold back. Because the battle is not over, and if you don't succeed in killing me, then I promise that I will slay you if it's the last thing that I do. You will forever remain low-life worms and I will forever prosper. What do your choices now matter when your tragic fate remains unchangeable? I'll just be another step you take down on your journey straight to hell." She said boldy.

Drop your weapons and detransform. Kleis's voice buzzed through the TV's speakers. Von lower his shield, revealing the screen. Kleis was in the hospital, standing next to a older woman's bed who appeared to be in a coma. You don't want me to cut off her life support, do you?

The girls hissed, before complying to her orders. Evelyn's appearance didn't really change much, except her snowboard no longer had saw blades on the bottom of it. "Elena," on the other hand, turned out to actually be a Reverse Mage. Evan hissed under his breath, uncomfortable with people knowing that he's a Reverser.

Just as Emirayha was sure that they were about to slay her, a familiar voice echoed through the room. It was Kleis. She was standing next to an old woman who appeared to be in a coma and threatened to cut off her life support if the two ice mages didn't detransform. Immediately, but reluctantly, they acquiesced to her commands. Evelyn appeared almost the same, but Elena turned out to be a reverse mage. Emirayha couldn't help but utter a smirk. She knew it had to be tough totally changing genders when fighting and that it must be depressing to get so close to victory only to have it slip through your fingers like sand. She had a newfound respect for Kleis. Kleis saved her life and really came through, she didn't play around. At that moment, she was sure they'd become even better friends.

"What do you want, you little-"

Your mother's been brain dead for a couple of days, hasn't she? Kleis said, reaching into a little satchel. She pulled out the bag of orbs they got from that one Reaper. About two hundred Esse in here. You only need a hundred to make a shard, right?

Evelyn's eyes widened in surprise. "And...what do you want in return?" There had to be some sort cost for all of that energy.

Kleis smirked. Haven't thought of that yet. Just remember that you owe me one. She glanced at Emirayha, then turned her eyes to Von. Can you escort these guys to the hospital for me?

Von simply nodded and turned back to his normal form. He looked much younger, probably about fourteen or fifteen. Yeah, he was mostly likely a Mature Mage. He grabbed Evelyn's snowboard and Evan's skates before escorting them out. The Boo deflated itself to the size of a tennis ball and flew into Evelyn's pocket.

"What do you want, you little-" one of the mages muttered.

"They still have a rude tone despite their vulnerable situation. What ignoramuses...." Emirayha thought.

Kleis offered to help out the two mages brain dead mother by giving them the esse from that one reaper she fought in return for and I owe you. Kleis then asked Von to escort them to the hospital, and he detransformed, doing as told, confiscating the snowboard and skates before escorting them out, as the boo familiar flew into Evelyn's pocket. He appeared to really be about fourteen or fifteen. "Well what do you know, Von is really younger than me...." Emirayha thought.

"You really came through. You took care of them like yesterdays trash and saved my life. You were totally in control. I never expected less. What should I do Kleis?" Emirayha said.

Accompany them to the hospital. A miracle's about to happen, it'll be interesting to watch. Seeya. And with that, Kleis hung up. A little ink blob appeared and took the cell phone and threw it into Von's hand. His hands were pretty full, since he was holding some of the largest Mage items in the city. He glanced over at Emirayha with a look that said, Let's hurry up and go.

When they made it to the hospital, the Ice Mages lead Von and Emirayha to the room that house their mother, allowing them in and quietly closing the door behind them. Kleis and the Teardrop Mage sat by the bed. The Teardrop Mage was a very young girl, probably five or six, who appeared to be completely made out of water. Her body had a bluish hue and was semitransparent. All of her clothes appeared to be made of water as well, except for a golden diadem that rested on her forehead.

Once Evan closed the door behind them, Kleis reached into the little bag and pulled out half or the orbs inside. They appeared to catch on fire in her hand and turned into ashes, before reforming into what appeared to be a small, blue, triangle-shaped gem. "This is a Tricore Shard," Kleis said, holding up the gem so everyone could see. "My sister, Kara, had created one of these before she disappeared. They give great power to the Mage that wields them, and, until the Mage can help as many people as it took to create the shard, she'll stay in her Mage form. However, if you kill someone while wielding the shard..."

Kleis trailed off and handed the shard to the Teardrop Mage. "Since Reyna's main power is healing and she's in charge of the hospital district, this will be her's." She looked over at the twins. "Her healing ability will by amplified, so she should be able to save your mother."

When they arrived at the hospital, the Ice Mages led Von and Emirayha to the room housing their mother. Kleis was there, and used several of the orbs from the pouch she had to create a shard named the tricore shard. She then handed it to a young girl who appeared to be completely composed of water, save a gold diadem on her forehead. Kleis then explained how it would save the twins mother.

This entire process intrigued Emirayha. She wondered how and why Kleis's sister disappeared, and what deeper mysteries awaited to be unveiled about this kind of power. For now, she just nodded with a slight smile on her face, eager to acquire more information.

Reyna pressed the Tricore Shard against the gem in her diadem, absorbing the energy within it. Her body became almost completely transparent, the only proof that she was still even there was the diadem. She appeared to move towards the twin's mom's head. A single teardrop hit the woman's forehead.

It took a while for it to kick in, but the numbers and lines on the machines surrounding the woman signaled recovery.

It was miraculous. With the contact of a single teardrop upon the forehead, lives had been changed instantly. Recovery became imminent, and one could feel the anxiety in the room dissipate. It didn't even seem like a place of tragedy anymore, it was rather pleasant. Emirayha glanced over at the Ice Mages while this was occurring to see how they were reacting.

Evelyn had to resist the urge to leap onto the bed and hug the crap out of their mother. Evan looked over at Kleis, his face hard to read. "...Thank you," he said.

"Remember, you owe me one," Kleis replied, shrugging.

It was obvious that the Ice Mages could hardly forbear from pouncing on their mother like small toddlers in a fit of elation. They just said a gentle thank you, however. It was almost heartwarming. Hopefully they'd stay out of the way for a while since they do owe Kleis one and their mother is back in health now.

"We should probably take our leave," Kleis said, glancing over at Emirayha and Von. She took the bag of orbs and placed them back inside her satchel.

The Ink Mage stared blankly at the bag and quietly pointed at it. "What...are you going to do with those?" he asked with no hint of emotion in his face.

Kleis shrugged and headed out the door, but Von firmly grabbed her hair and pulled her back. Despite being much younger, he was a bit taller and definitely stronger than Kleis. "I need to know..."

Kleis pulled the dragonfly charm from her necklace, took the tail end and dug it into Von's hand. He let go, his hand swelling up like it was stung by a bee. "Go help Reyna get out of her Mage form." She pushed the younger boy away and headed out.

After performing the ritual, Kleis and Emirayha prepared to leave; however, Von insisted on finding out what Kleis was going to do with the remainder of the orbs, to no success. Kleis used the tail of her necklace to sting him, and told him to go help Reyna detransform. Emirayha followed Kleis silently.

Kleis silently strode down the hallway, keeping one hand on the flap of her satchel. She assessed the area, and when she found that there was pretty much no one who could eavesdrop on them, she turned on her heel so she could face Emirayha. "Emirayha...I can trust you, right?" She sounded unsure of something and she looked down sheepishly at her satchel.

Kleis opened her mouth as if to say something, but then she shook her head and sighed. "...Good." She span around again and walked quickly, trying to keep herself from just running away.

Being a bit distant, Kleis didn't answer Emirayha other than a brief, 'good,' and she continued walking. Emirayha just followed, sure that prodding her into answering wasn't worth it and wouldn't be effective.

Once they made it out of the hospital, they would notice that the ground was wet, but free of snow. It was a warm night all of a sudden and the sky was clear. Judging by the position of the moon, it was now midnight. Kleis glanced over at Emirayha and said, "Keep training," before sprinting back towards the forest.

The night sky outside the hospital was serene, and all was well for now. The frigid, caustic snow was now merely a dampness, and warmth assuaged aching bodies. Kleis said "Keep training," and went back towards the forest and Emirayha replied, "Ok, ditto," and went home.

A week passed since that snow day, and any sign of Kleis's presence had faded away. She didn't go to school, and there was no answer when someone knocked on the door of her forest cottage. However, that didn't mean that the forest was overrun with monsters or anything, as Emirayha and Von had taken up her duty as the guardian. The fireflies and wasps still protected the path to the cottage for them, so they knew that, where ever she was, she was okay.

One night, during patrol times, a small girl entered the forest. The fireflies were kind enough to illuminate the path for her when she parted her bangs to show her teardrop-shaped diadem.
