"Cool, cool," Tom replied, moving past Ari and after Heidi.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer Part 5
Ari clenched her fists tightly. Despite the fact that she was normally a calm person, this pissed her off. How could Heidi just waltz right in here, say hi, and leave again? Was her new family that important. It didn't matter, she figured. Heidi had always done things her own way, even if she had been going about it in a less flashy matter before the Storm. There'd be no stopping her.
Heidi grabbed Tom's arm, biting her lip. She was scared. It was ridiculous, she'd survived the freaking Acer Tournament, and she was scared of going to see her little brother. Stupid, stupid.

"Hey, you're going to be fine," Tom consoled her, remaining calm. "Trust me."

"Y-Yeah...okay," Heidi mumbled as they approached the fountain. She hesitated for a bit, before moving closer, clearing her throat to catch the attention of the three kids playing around it.
"Who're you?" a rather small, black haired girl asked.
Another boy with large ears that stuck out of his messy hair picked up a rock, stepping in front of the other two children. "I 'aven't seen y' around here before," he frowned, watching Heidi and Tom suspiciously.
Heidi raised her hands defensively. "C-Calm down, you know me..."

"I'm just here as a friend," Tom clarified, realising he had never really explained to Ari who he was. Damn, he would've liked to tell her that he was God or something similar.

Ari sat on top of a building, watching the scene amusedly.
"If we don't know you, how can you be our friend? That means you have to be Scar Lady's friend. If she's an enemy, you're an enemy," the other boy spoke up quietly from behind the other two.
Heidi frowned slightly. "M-My name is Heidi Armist-" She was cut off by the boy with big ears throwing his rock at her, hitting her shoulder. "Dammit, Seth!"
Seth picked up another rock, glaring at Heidi. "Don't kid about stuff like that, you bitch! Benji's right here, that ain't right!"
Benji himself didn't react much, staring blankly off towards the outskirts of the town.

Tom turned to Ari briefly, just letting her know that he felt she was there and wishing that she would intervene.
"Give her a chance," he advised stoicly.

Tracy had stepped back, patting Benji's shoulder. "It's okay, Seth'll make the mean lady go away," she told him. Benji simply sighed, standing up.
"A chance?!" Seth glared at Tom. "It ain't right to joke about someone's dead sister!"
"You shouldn't speak ill of the dead," Benji chipped in, glaring slightly at Heidi and Tom. "Please leave Heidi out of this and tell us your real names."
Heidi bit her lip, glancing back at Tom again. "Benji, I fell out of a tree and scraped my arm. I was on the ground laughing, and you were up in the tree crying. Seth, I pushed you into the pool once. Tracy, everyone used to tease Benji about having a crush on you. My...My name is Heidi Armistead, dammit!"
Ari simply sat on the rooftop, quite content with watching how things played out.

Tom remained silent, letting Heidi have the floor. His name wasn't important.

Benji frowned, looking at Tom. "You should start talking more, unless you two are planning a sneak attack. Scar Lady distracts us while Big Guy takes us out," he stated mistrustfully.
Heidi sighed, digging through her pockets for something significant. How could she convince them, or more importantly, Benji? She started blinking back tears of frustration, causing Tracy to gasp.
"Benji, you made Scar Lady cry!" she exclaimed in a loud whisper.

"I have nothing to say. It's Heidi's place to talk, not mine. I'm here for support, be it physical or mental. You're not my brother," Tom replied simply and calmly.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer Part 5
"And both my sisters are dead. She's not Heidi, so can you please stop pretending that she is..." Benji sighed.
Heidi didn't know what to do anymore. She knew it would take some convincing to get them to believe her, but her mind was blank. She started digging through her pockets again, looking for her pocket knife frantically. "My name is Heidi Armistead," she repeated. "I had two siblings, Benji and Mary Armistead. My parents died in the Storm. Mary killed herself. Benji wouldn't talk for the longest time and I couldn't help and I couldn't do anything and I was so damn weak..."

Tom gestured wearily at Heidi.
"One of them is. Look at her, even though I can't, look her right in the eyes," Tom replied.

"You expect me to believe that she's still alive?" Benji asked quietly.
Ari sighed, glowing briefly with Flow as she jumped off the building, landing safely on the ground near the group. "Yeah, Benji, I do. Unfortunately, this is Heidi, or a very well-made copy of her. I dunno where she's been hiding these past couple years, but she's still Heidi."
Benji fell quiet, before tackling his sister in a hug.

"Bah, Heidi was starting to cry. I may be pissed at her, but she was my friend for a long time and I've never seen 'er cry. No point in starting now," Ari muttered back crossing her arms, looking over at Seth and Tracy. "Oi, why don't you two get lost for a bit?"
Heidi hugged Benji back, patting his head. "I-I'm sorry..." she mumbled quietly to him.

"Meh, she's always been like that. Stubborn as hell. Used to argue with teachers a lot. That was pretty funny, and it got us all out of class," Ari chuckled.

"Well of course. We all mostly knew each other. Most of the people here lived in the same town," Ari shrugged. "Tracy and Seth's families lived just up the road from me, for example."

"By the time I got over the shock of blindness, everyone I knew was gone, so I'm just surprised to see villages remained intact," Tom replied.

Ari shook her head. "Nah, we built this place after the Storm. I dunno if it was different wherever you were, but it was really windy. Knocked all the buildings down."

"Oh. Well, yeah, a couple of the older kids organized us before mass chaos broke out," Ari answered.

Erika looked guilty. "It's possible... but I didn't mean for her to feel neglected."
