Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Corentine." she said as she took the extended hand. "Nice to meet you as well." She didn't know what else to say to him. She hated awkward meetings like this.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
The small prophet looked up at the woman, giving a slight shrug of her shoulders. "We can always start there I suppose. Do you wish to find some more comfortable attire?"
Isha eyed Evangeline's style of dress, and while much more practical in Bavarhm than the Thyellan's furs, she didn't know is the material could withstand the harsh elements of the desert.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"No, my dress has suited me finely so far, so with my dress I shall stay," Evangeline replied with a firm nod, smoothing out said dress before proceeding to head back in the direction of the fountain. The tavern had been near it, and as much as she hated to go back, that was probably as practical place as ever. "Follow me. I have an idea," she called back to Isha hoping the young girl would take her advice. She seemed to be compliant enough with her idea, so all was well. A smile settled onto her face for reasons even unknown to her. The sun was harsh, and the sand was annoying, yet there was something about this whole journey thing that lifted her spirits. She was about to turn the corner at the fountain intersection to get to the tavern when something caught her eye.
"Hold, isn't that Corentine over there?" Evangeline halted in her tracks, a dainty finger raising into the air to point at the girl talking with the gentlemen by the fountain. "Yes, I'm positive that it's her. It's not like my memory is that bad as to forget a face I saw what seems like mere moments before," she said aloud confidently before striding up to the fountain. She gave Corentine a polite smile. "You ran off so suddenly. Are you all right?" she asked in concern.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"The fountain apears to be lucky." Isha mumbled when Evangeline ran to meet the other woman. She wasn't particurally happy that Corentine ran off. They needed to stick together, especially when so much was at stake...
When she got closer however, Isha felt a current run through her once more, as she looked at both of the men beside Corentine. She found them... I'm less maddened by her now, I suppose...

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine whirled around when Evangeline asked her if she was alright. "Please...just don't ask." she asked quietly, meeting her eyes with sad ones. "Um... I found the other two descendants. We were about to start looking for that inn you mentioned." she added. "It was an accident though. I was asking him if he'd seen you guys. This is Aeliel, and this is Sinclair." Corentine gestured to the respective men, and did nothing more.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Oh, what a pleasant surprise," Aeliel said as the two girls (other descendants?) approached them. He wondered if they had enough money in between them for five (seven?) people at the inn. "Seems meeting you here was a brilliant stroke of fate," he told Corentine, who looked less than excited.
Then Aeliel turned to address his new companions (assuming he was supposed to go find this "temple" with them; the little girl, darn her, hadn't been very clear). His eyes froze for a moment on the younger of the girls - though merely a child, he recognized her as someone from Barahm. But she was only a child, right? Despite the tensions between their two countries, she could hardly be of danger.
Plus, she was a descendant (apparently). Someone important. Otherwise, he'd never have been sent to find her. Surely that was enough cause to put aside their differences and--
But Aeliel had been raised as a fighter, been fed that Barahm and Tivuor (he wondered if there was a descendant from there; looking over at the others, it was clear they were a diverse group) were the bad guys. You're not a fighter anymore, said an obnoxious voice in the back of his head, and Aeliel grit his teeth in frustration before smiling at the new girls.
"Ah, nice to meet you," he said brightly, forcing himself to address the both of them - the Barahm girl included. "I'm Aeliel. I-I don't really know what I'm doing here or why I was sent, but an angel came and told me to find you all. I hope we get along well."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Evangeline could see the startling sadness in Corentine's eyes, and as the girl had requested, she decided not to pry in threat of bringing back bad memories. The woman turned her attention to the gentlemen. Now that she was actually paying closer attention to them, she could feel that sensation in her stomach again. Corentine had indeed found the final two descendants just as she said. It was wonderful, to be sure. Now all they had to do was reunite with Kaza and Cielo back at the outpost and everything would be all right.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well," Evangeline said and bowed her head slightly. "My name is Evangeline, Maiden of the Mist. As to why you're hear, do you truly not know? You are a descendant of the Seven . You are to travel to the temple with your fellow descendants and claim your rightful inheritance. With the power of the Seven in our hands, it will be our duty to defeat the Old Gods which have begun to rise," she explained, lowering her voice significantly at the mention of the descendants and Old Gods. People were horrible gossips, and the last thing she wanted was to spread a seed of panic amongst the people, even though just the rumors themselves were doing enough of that as it was.
"Isha here knows where the outpost is, by the way. She can lead us there when we're ready," she slipped in quickly, her voice returning to a normal volume.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Isha looked at Aeliel with a small frown and a bit of a raised eyebrow. The Silaran seemed to be trying to not raise any conflicts between the descendants because their nations had been feuding. Which would make the process of becoming a working unit or people much easier. The world didn't have time for the seven to bicker.
The girl, as when she introduced herself to the others, bowing in the Barahm fashion. "Likewise. I am Isha, some around here call me the Prophet of the Dunes. And Lady Evangeline is right, a few of our other associates are probably already at the settlement."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Yes, let's head to this outpost," Aeliel agreed. How convenient; they could spend the night there and head out in the morning. Then, hesitantly, he turned to Evangeline (who seemed to know what she was doing) and said, "You're referring to the Seven who drove away the Old Gods?" He tried to remember the things he'd learned of the Seven when he was a child, but back in Silar, the Seven had only been a children's fable. A week ago, Aeliel would have scoffed at Evangeline's words; now, after everything that had happened to him, he wasn't so sure.
"The girl who came to me. She couldn't have been older than you..., uh, Isha," Aeliel said, pausing as he committed Isha's name to memory. "Sorry, I don't mean to offend by calling you a child. What I mean is that...in that legend - the one about the Seven - the only child was the..." Here he stopped as realization struck him. "...of Life. That's what she was talking about," he muttered. "Protecting life? Ah, it makes sense..."
Even as the puzzle arranged itself, Aeliel couldn't force himself to be happy. Now that he understood the reason why he couldn't kill, it only cemented the harsh reality in his mind. "Never mind me," Aeliel apologized for his distraction. "Um, what's this...inheritance you were talking about, er, Miss Evangeline?"

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"That's right. Those are the only Seven I know about," Evangeline said in a teasing voice, though she scolded herself lightly in her mind for doing so. The last thing this fellow needed to be was teased. She paused while he directed a few comments towards Isha before muttering to himself about something. It turned out that the Life Knight had chosen him, and he was just now figuring it out. He launched another question at Evangeline, and she was more than willing to answer promptly. "The inheritance is composed of weapons and armor that the original Seven wore in battle. With these in our possession, we will be fully prepared for the battles that lie ahead for us. Or, at least that is what I have come to believe," she said, nodding her head.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"That's what I was afraid of," Aeliel murmured to himself. Some help he'd be in battle now when the mere thought of harming someone brought him to his knees. But the Life Knight had chosen him for a reason, right? There had to be something he could do. Aeliel frowned. He guessed that maybe the Life Knight's powers were healing? (Now he regretted not studying up on this.) Why him then? Sure, he came from a line of healers, but he had no talent in that area... What could he do that someone else couldn't? And more importantly, how was he supposed to use this inheritance when the original Knight of Life had been half his age, and a girl at that?
He sighed. He could worry about it later. "Well, if we've no objections, should we head out?"

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Isha felt mildly amused when she Aelial mentally put his foot in his mouth. She knew that she was the youngest of the chosen seven, but that didn't mean she would be treated differently.
Once Evangeline finished explaining, Isha spoke up once more. "the temple that we need to reach in at the summit of Mt. Styx."
Isha nodded at heading out, it was better to get to the settlement before nightfall.
OOC: I have such a hard time naming mountains. XP And should we wait for Last?

OOC: No, just go; he said he'd take more than a week, so I'd say it'll be safe to just go ahead and assume Sinclair will go with the flow if no one mentions him. -nodnod-
"Okay. While we're just walking, would you mind telling me a bit more about these Seven? Um, in Silar, it's really regarded as just a folk tale, so I never learned much about it. You guys seem to know what you're doing though," Aeliel said.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Certainly. Back when the Old Gods were tormenting the world causing mayhem and destruction on widespread scales, the Divines decided to bless seven individuals with a palette of varying powers that were meant to be used in conjunction with one another to defeat and seal away the Old Gods. After they had done so, for they obviously succeeded, they turned the barren wastes that were the world into what we have today using their powers--for example, the storms became controlled by the Storm Knight, the heated sands of the wastes were cooled by the Mist Knight, and plants and animals were brought forth by the Life Knight. They all worked together to make the world liveable again," Evangeline obliged in relating the story as they walked along. It was something she enjoyed telling because of the sheer hope that arose from it. In the depths of despair, the Divines acted out so mercifully and blessed the Seven with their gifts. It was for that very reason that Evangeline adored the Divines as much as she did. Without them, the Seven could not have come what they had become.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"...that's a bit different from the Silarian legend," Aeliel volunteered after she'd finished. "Um, we're taught that the seven weren't humans at all, but lesser Divines who descended to right the world. The gist of it is the same though," he acknowledged. "I suppose it's only to be expected there are different versions of the story, given that our cultures are so different."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine was silent while they talked. Sure, she knew the legend, she was taught it in school. But it was just a thing. Nowhere near as important as it was now. Why it was so important was lost on her as well. Everything was confusing. But she had nowhere to go now. She didn't want to go home and tell her mother the awful news. She didn't want to be here either. Something was keeping her here against her will, but that didn't matter anyway. She would be forced to stay by the other descendants, who she was thinking were beginning to form a cult before her eyes. She wanted no part of it.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Lesser Divines you say? I think I might have heard that variation, and it may very well be true," Evangeline spoke as she tried to rifle through all the past things she had learned about the legend, for it was something she had studied intensively when she was younger. "Regardless, I like the idea of the humans being blessed. It means the Divines trusted us and loved us enough to use their gift to bestow such harmony upon the world. However, if it turned out that they were divine beings in and of themselves, then that would be all right as well. Regardless, the Divines saved us from imminent destruction. It is why I have so much respect for them as it stands," the priestess explained. It wasn't just that she was taught religion from birth, but because she genuinely loved the idea that the Divines cared for the human race. There was just something about that fact that made her heart flutter with joy. She found herself sighing nostalgically.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Sinclair nodded as he listened and walked along with the other six, happy enough that they had all met up finally. Gazing in the horizon he strolled along contently.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel fell quiet for a bit, thinking. It wasn't difficult to see the joy in Evangeline's eyes as she spoke. The Seven and the Divines had saved the world. How benevolent. Aeliel felt a little guilty because he'd felt nothing but resentment for the little girl. "Er, the other descendants," he eventually brought up. "What're they like?"

"Kaza is a soldier, and is quite protective and nice, though his methods can be extreme..." Isha replied to Aelial's question, leaving Evangeline to answer for Cielo, since the Thyrellan woman has beeen with her longer. She walked near the front, leading the group to where they needed to go.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine followed Isha quietly, grateful for the idea of an inn and a nice place to sleep. "Cielo's nice." she said at the pause. She didn't really know much more than that. The girl and herself had only crossed paths only a couple times. "Very strong and independent I think. I've only talked to her a couple times, but that's the impression I get."
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Corentine's right. Cielo is quite independent and easy to get along with. I find her to be quite enjoyable company," Evageline added after Corentine spoke her piece. "I think she can be a bit reckless at times though, but that's just me," she continued with a slight laugh thinking of how she had rushed off so many times to get to Kaza on the roof and to find the source of some scream that might not have had anything to do with anything. Even still, she seemed to be quite reliable, so there would be no problems. "I think you'll find them to be quite interesting people." Her gentle smile never faded as she pressed onward with her fellow descendants, trying to ignore the sand that was surely getting stuck to her dress.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"That's good," Aeliel said, staring into the distance - a vast sea of sand and sand and sand. Occasionally, there'd be shrub or something on the ground, but most of it was barren wasteland (in Aeliel's admittedly biased opinion). And it was unbelievably hot. He grimaced as he unclasped his cape and removed it, shaking it a bit to dislodge the sand, before slinging it over his shoulder. "A-and what about you guys?" he asked hesitantly. "What do you think of this?"

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"I don't like it. Home was a lot cooler and wetter." Corentine said, trying her best not to let it bother her. Her boots were high enough to where sand wouldn't get in them, but it was still really hot. She missed rain.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Isha quirked an eyebrow at how quickly Corentine complained, but said nothing. Oh well, at least she's honest. Not many people could see the beauty in a desert, and for the most part, except for two times in the day, the prophet didn't disagree.
