Re: Requiem of Depravity
"I'm not used to all this sand and monotony," Sinclair said, taking a long swig of water from his canteen. "Velika has lots of industrial structures and tall buildings everywhere, so there's always something different to catch your eye. And it wasn't so blasted hot either..."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"I definitely agree with you on that point," Aeliel nodded. Then with a worried glance at Isha, he continued, "Er, not that the desert is anything bad, mind you. It's just that Silar's pretty big on forests and nature - it's pretty different from here." Then he hastily added, "But I'm biased, so don't mind me. I'm sure there are lots of good points in Barahm too." He'd never thought he'd find himself complimenting Silar's sworn enemies, but now that they were (kinda?) working together, it'd be best to all get along.

"I'm not taking any offense," Isha replied calmly, trying to keep an amused look off her face. "There are nice things about Barahm. The rainy season a couple of years ago brought colorful wild flowers to the brush lands. And the sunsetting along the dunes can be almost blinding but beautiful."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel nodded, feeling like the fool. He could see Isha trying not to smile. "That does sound pretty. Where I live, we don't get many flowers that aren't imported, but the forests are full of herbs and such that can only be found there. And the trees are tall and full, and if you stay long enough, you can feel the magic in the air." He stopped and smiled wistfully. "In the forest, you can't see the sunset, but climb the mountains and it's breathtaking."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Evangeline listened as her fellow descendants chattered about their places of origin--places she had yet to see fully. The nations she traveled through to get to Barahm--it just wasn't enough. She was always on a straight path and didn't take the time to see the sights and enjoy the nations for what they had. A frown settled upon her face as she realized how much beauty she had probably been blind to as she traveled, but maybe now that they were realizing their destiny, their journey would take them all over the place and she would be sure not to miss such wonders again.
"I have missed much on my travels here to Barahm, apparently," Evangeline stated with a sad smile. "In Usvaan, you are lucky to see anything in the morning. The mists tend to roll in rather quickly. The sky is often overcast. Many days of rain we do experience, but the flora and fauna benefit greatly from it--it's charming in its own way. I've definitely grown to love it over the many years."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"My home has a lot of rain. It's cool and you are always comfortable with the temperature. It's a little humid, but I could go out as I am right now and the temperature is perfect." Thinking of home made Corentine smile a little. It was one of her first smiles since she got here. "There's a huge meadow around the city filled with wildflowers. I love to go out there while it's raining and just lay there for a bit. The rain always felt nice. Cold, but nice." The rain made her think of water which made her thirsty. The desert was so dry. She was very out of her element.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel peered at Corentine curiously as she spoke, her face softening for the first time since he'd met her. As she spoke about her home, her eyes lit up - like the clouds opening up after a good rain. "You're pretty when you smile," he told her without thinking. "It's a good look for you."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Evangeline raised a hand to her mouth and chuckled lightly shooting a sly glance over at Aeliel. "My, such a bold gentleman we have here," she said teasingly, lowering her hand to her side again. "No use being shy and cowardly; only the brave will have their ambitions realized, am I right?" She reached her hand over and patted the fellow on the shoulder a couple of times. He had definitely brought it upon himself. It wasn't oft that she was able to joke around with people in such a manner, though she was known to be very sociable back in Oturas. Still, most of the interactions she had with other people in the town seemed to be duty-related, such as confessions and the like. She wondered if these people even had anything to confess. It was an interesting, yet fleeting thought--going as soon as it had come. "I merely jest, by the way. I think Corentine is quite radiant myself. Perhaps we should endeavor to make things more cheerful for her so that she smiles more often?"
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel was stunned for a second, realizing exactly what he'd said. "I-I..." he tried to tell them he hadn't meant it in that way, but the words got lodged in his throat. He coughed and a sudden smile broke across his face. "Quite," he replied, winking at Evangeline. "We're here whether we like it or not, right? Might as well enjoy it."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine flushed as reality hit her with Aeliel's compliment. "Oh... um, thanks." she said, and her smile faltered. "You don't have to go out of your way... I don't like being a burden. So, don't worry about me. I'll get better... eventually..." She just wanted to grieve over the death of her father for a while. That's all. She had her moment alone, but now people were trying to make her happy just so she could look pretty. Such superficial things didn't sit well with her, but she appreciated the gesture nonetheless.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Now that they were out fo the city, Isha could see the settlement in the distance. The girl was thankful for the setting sun, since it brought some relief from the heat, however if they didn't want to freeze they'd have to make it to the camp soon. The desert could be unbearably cold in the night, and with no shelter from the elements it would be even worse.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel smiled again. "You're not a burden," he assured her, although his eyes darkened at the irony. If anyone would be the burden... But no, he'd make himself be helpful, even if it was only through night watches and tending fires. He wouldn't let this hold him back. "I know you don't want to talk about it," Aeliel said quietly, "so I won't press you on anything. Just, when you're done, remember we're kind of a group now."
He beamed. "You're not alone."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine blushed even more, almost as red as the sun was now. People never were really this friendly with her, no matter how friendly she was with them. Her father told her to smile always and then they wouldn't touch you, but still. Smiling felt like an action that was impossible, no matter how much her father would like it.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
"We should probably hurry," Aeliel commented, looking towards the horizon and spotting a structure that was probably the outpost. "It'll be getting cold soon." Preferring the outdoors to a roof over his head, Aeliel had witnessed firsthand the horrors of a desert night.

"We're almost there. You'll have shelter, food, and there is a well nearby if you wish to draw a bath." Isha responded to them.

Cielo sighed in delight as she walked about, having just finished changing after taking a nice warm bath. She paused when she heard noise from outside. "Huh, they're here already?" She said to herself. That was certainly quick.

"Thank you," Aeliel told the girl, meaning it. As they reached the outpost, he called out, "Hello? Is anyone here?"
He couldn't form an opinion on the last two descendants from what he'd heard from the others (but at least they were nice?). While he wanted to meet them himself, Aeliel was a bit hesitant. Please let us get along.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Having retired to one of the small guest rooms reserved for him, Kaza stripped off his coat, shirt, glove and ring, tucking all of it away in a small dresser. He kicked off his boots, leaving him in nothing but his pants and the gauntlet. He raised his hand to where the gauntlet began, but hesitated. His fingers hovered above the straps, then returned to his side. He would leave the gauntlet on, at least until it was absolutely necessary for him to remove it. Hearing the calling of somebody from outside, he stood up, not bothering to don any of the clothes he just removed, and stepped out. He stepped out into the rapidly cooling desert air, his arms folded across his chest. He could see five people on horseback, recognizing Corentine and Evangeline immediately. He assumed Isha was with them as well, and a few seconds later, he spotted the girl. Two other males were with them, whom he did not recognize at all.
His arms dropped to his side, and he strode towards his fellow Descendants. "Hello, my comrades," he called out, raising one hand in greeting. His gaze drifted to Corentine for a moment. She didn't seem as upset, so he turned his gaze to the newcomers. "I presume you two are the other Descendants we were looking for. I am Kaza," he said, standing in front of them with his hands in his pockets.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Evangeline was quick to gracefully dismount and walk up to Kaza, shaking her head. "They are indeed the remaining descendants. We were quite lucky to run into them," she explained before pointing at Kaza's bare chest. "You're going to be rather cold if you stay out here long enough," she said teasingly before turning around to face the others. Aeliel and Sinclair would be able to make acquaintances with Kaza and Cielo now, and their group would finally be complete. Her face seemed to hold a constant glow of cheer for some reason. She wondered if she was the only one excited about all of this, though she definitely wasn't looking forward to tangoing with the Old Gods when it was time. That would be dangerous. In times of dire circumstances, extra caution must be given, not thrown to the wind, she thought, just keeping it in mind for when she would need it later on.
Re: Requiem of Depravity
Aeliel dismounted as well, looking the unfamiliar man over with slight apprehension. His fingers itched to reach for his quiver as he recognized Kaza as Tivuorian. His eyes were automatically drawn to the gothic gauntlet on Kaza's arm - an accessory that looked much more dangerous than anything Isha wore. Even with his guard up, Aeliel felt guilty. Just moments ago, he'd been hoping for a good relationship with his new comrades (?). Swallowing pride and caution, Aeliel put on another smile and held out gloved hand. "Well met, Kaza. My name is Aeliel. If what Evangeline has already told me is to be believed," he nodded at the girl in question, "then I think I'm supposed to be the Knight of Life? Um, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do, but I hope to be of use."
Gesturing to Sinclair, who had also dismounted with the others, Aeliel said, "And this is Sinclair, who... um, actually, I don't know which one he's supposed to be. But it's nice to meet you anyway."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"Hello?" Cielo asked as she stepped out, and noticed everyone was back. "Oh you're all here." She said, looking around the group, and noting the two newcomers. She walked over to them, and gave a slight bow. "Greetings, comrades, my name is Cielo, from Thyella, I take it you two are the final two descendants?" She asked as politely as she could.
She wasn't really used to speaking like this. Back home, she was a lot more casual, and a little bit lacking in manners, like the other hunters. Thyellan hunters have actually been described as being similar in aura to the beasts they hunt, and Cielo could understand why. During a hunt, she would stop thinking like a human, and began using her instincts, like a beast hunting it's prey. A lot of people described her as a wild girl of some sort, and she really couldn't disagree.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Another person walked out to greet them, and Aeliel was relieved to find the girl was Thyellan. "I'm Aeliel of Larksong - that's Silar, yeah." He introduced himself again. "And that's Sinclair of...er...I believe he said somewhere in Tudesh."
Aeliel sized her up as well. With long black hair and a pale complexion befitting someone from Thyella, Cielo had a hunter's physique. Aeliel smiled in spite of himself.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Kaza's face remained blank at Evangeline's comment. "I have ways of staying warm," he replied. He looked at Sinclair, then at Aeliel. "If he is from Tudesh, I believe he would be the Dragon Knight." He folded his arm, and turned on his heel. "Now that we all have been acquainted, I shall return to my quarters."
With that, he left to his room, sinking down on his bed and drifting off into a light, peaceful sleep rather quickly.

Re: Requiem of Depravity
"It's nice to meet you both." She said with a smile to Aeliel. She could tell that he was an archer from the arrows on his back. At first she thought he might be a hunter like herself, but quickly realized from his build, that he was probably a warrior. "I hope we can all get along well with each other." She said, before hearing what Kaza had to say.
Turning to the Tivuorian, she finally noticed that he was now shirtless. Unused to seeing half-naked men, as from where she was from, people were wearing layers upon layers to stay warm, her face went red. She quickly tried to shake it off, before turning around, away from the group. "Y-yes, I think I'm going to get some sleep as well..."

Re: Requiem of Depravity
Corentine said nothing as they greeted the Tivourian man. She was tired and wanted to get some sleep, so she said good night to everyone else and found a room to herself. She sank down on her own bed and cried herself to sleep.
