The Narrator
The chemistry classroom was unusually quiet for once. Even though the students inside were making up a test, there still usually was an awful lot of sound echoing in that room, since Mr. Venner enjoyed singing horrible (and sometimes insulting) songs about his students.
But the bald old man was nowhere to be seen. He received a phone call half an hour ago and left in a hurry (it had something to do with carpets), leaving his satchel and his coffee. And he still has not come back. The computer at his desk was still logged in as well, and the Promethean board was on but frozen.
The chemistry classroom was very spacious, big enough to fit a bit more than thirty students. Counters and cabinets filled with beakers and test tubes lined the walls, as well as models of atoms and molecules. There was also an eyewash station up at the front, near the teacher’s desk and the Promethean board.
It was getting pretty late. The clock read half-past four, most club meetings would have ended by now. The students have pretty much finished their test, or are close to finishing it. It would probably just be a good idea to put their tests on Venner’s satchel and leave.

Rosie glanced around the room, not really wanting to be the one to get up first. She continued to rustle papers around, attempting to look like she was being productive.

Matt got up, having finished his test, before walking up to Mr. Verner's desk, and putting his test on his satchel. He then moved to leave, thinking about what he would do, since he didn't really have practice today. He'd probably just end up playing video games again.

Re: The Narrator
Chrys had just finished her test, unconfident in many of her answers, and already was thinking about sketching. Mr. Venner had been gone for a while, and it was the perfect time to look around the room. Each cabinet and glass held a mystery and each substance reacted differently to their conditons as well as each other. They reminded her of people in a way and galvanized thought for creation. The copious plausible explosions and changes waitng to occur fascinated her. She began digging through cabinets and materials to see what interesting things she would find.

Re: The Narrator
As the students turned their tests in, they may have seen that she satchel was wide open, revealing a jumbo bottle of Tylenol, a folder with several quizzes and test, and a receipt from Wal-Mart, showing that the bottle of Tylenol was purchased just this morning. The bottle didn’t sound like it had any sort of pills in it, for whatever reason.
Chrys searched one of the cabinets near the sink and a Bunsen burner. She found various items a punk like her probably shouldn’t be trusted with, such as bottles of hydrogen peroxide and a flint used to light the burner. There were also a pair of tongs and a box of magnesium strips, and Chrys very well knew what happened when magnesium combusted.

Chrys must have had a fifth sense for finding things because she found some pretty interesting things immediately. First came a Bunsen burner, bottles of hydrogen peroxide, and a flint. Then she saw some tongs and magnesium strips. She knew just what she would do. Without hesitation, she grabbed the magnesium strips with the tongs and began lighting the Bunsen burner.

Rosie stared at Chrys, coughing a little when she started digging around in all sorts of suspicious looking things. Seeing what her classmate had in mind, she abruptly stood up, taking several steps away from the impending fire. "Uh...might not want to do that," she said softly, though she didn't make any motion to stop her. "Can't put magnesium fires out with water, y'know."

Re: The Narrator
Chrys thought she heard someone muttering something, but couldn't make out the words. She was too into what she was doing. A few sparks escaped from the burner and ignited the bottom of the cabinets a bit, but she hadn't noticed. She moved the burner from under the cabinets (but not too close to the edge) and began lighting the magnesium. Immediately, a blinding, white flare erupted from the strips. She knew to be careful not to look directly at it, but she wasn't sure if others knew.

Re: The Narrator
The light produced from the burning magnesium was blinding. The metallic strips were reduced into snow white ash, magnesium oxide, which scattered around on the black counter.
They probably hadn't noticed that the bottom of the cabinets had caught on fire from when Chrys first ignited the burner. They probably weren't even looking anyway, since the burning magnesium was sort of in the way. The fire continued to spread, slowly consuming the cabinet and its contents. Now, there was a sink right below it, as well as a fire extinguisher up by the teacher's desk. Let's put that to use, shall we?
