Virulents (Sci-fi)
In an attempt to cure genetic diseases scientists engineered a modified version of the Rhino Virus.
The cure seemed to work until the virus started to radically change the subject's gentic structure.
The changes would cause a cancer that would take only days to consume the host.
Sometimes the changes would cause dramatic changes that the host's body couldn't handle.
On rare occasions the host could survive the dramatic changes the virus caused and gained powers.
These survivors of the virus only appeared at a rate of 1/5,000,000
The range of powers they could get was nearly unlimited.
These new beings could no longer be called human though, and quickly took to calling themselves Virulents.
However as with all dieseases there are a small number of those immune.
At a rate of 1/1,000,000 there were a few human survivors.
Many thought that humanity would be able to rebuild alongside the Virulents.
There was hope.
Until the first human children were born.
All human children born after the release of the virus have died.
No one really knows why, but some blame the Virulent as Virulent children are born fine.
Now unrest is growing, and many people want answers. . . Or at least no more Virulents.
