Massacre as 'moss-ah-kerr.' I didn't even notice it until my friend pointed it out to me...
On the other hand, people that pronounce milk as 'melk' get to me.

Re: Odd Pronunciations
I have a tendency to pronounce everything the way its spelled. And when I feel like a Jeje-geek, I say things in a really strong Filipino accent, so forever is "por-e-buur" and funny is "punny."
Re: Odd Pronunciations
@Book- Pft, I do that all the time. You know how Heidi talks in RS? That's basically my accent. |D
@Eebit- I've never heard someone say "melk." o_o

Re: Odd Pronunciations
@Suvi- Yeah, I've noticed some similarities in me and Heidi's accents.
At first, I thought she was just trying to make fun of the South, but now I'm not sure.

I'm not as bad as my gramma. She says "warsh" instead of "wash," "Weemsport" rather than "Williamsport" (Little League baseball fuckyeah~), "warter" instead of "water," et cetera.

I used to have to take speech lessons cause I kept mis-saying the 'th' sound, with the 'd' sound, and vice versa.

My little brother had to go to speech therapy...but it was because he wouldn't talk, he'd just hum all the time.

Re: Odd Pronunciations
I can have a bit of a Southern drawl, and I pronounce "either" eye-ther, but that's pretty much it.
Re: Odd Pronunciations
I was born and raised in California and took English in an actual English-speaking country, so I didn't have much of an accent, or so people say. But now I'm in China, and most of the English teachers aren't native speakers as they should be, so my English deteriorated somewhat. Now I mispronounce words that are spelled or sound similar, and I use a lot of "literal Chinese translations" and Chinglish that won't make sense unless you know how actual native speaking Chinese people speak. On a slightly unrelated note, when I'm angry, I use what many would recognize as "gangster accent/talk". e_e;

xD
It's okay, I take Mandarin in school, and during/after that class we'll all catch each other speaking in Chinglish. It's kind of funny.

Wow, nice... I've heard that many schools in the USA are opening more foreign language programs, like Mandarin.

Of is 'a. To the point where this kid in my class was writing and he actually wrote down 'a' instead of 'of.'

Re: Odd Pronunciations
I pronounce all the Rs as retroflex taps (the kind that's neither rolled or trilled but just plain r); I trill and roll when necessary (imported words like randezvous or paparazzi). I do not pronounce r the way Americans do, that's a totally different letter in my native tongue.
I pronounce things based on spelling a lot and tend to put stress on the important words - I use the same stress for nouns and verbs. Actually, I don't stress a single syllable, I stress the entire words. =P Just a habit, I guess, and it makes my tone all singsong-y.
I also tend to pronounce my As more like a in hard than ai in air. Like, can't is cahnt and can sometimes drops into cahn. So of my Tamil gets mixed in too so half of the time English words have Tamil inflections in my speech.
Otherwise... All my hard Ts and Ds I find to pronounce in the front of the mouth impossible; I pronounce them retroflexively. They end up being soft Ts and Ds if I try pronouncing them at the teeth like Americans apparently do.
That's about it I think as far as I can figure out?

It would probably help if I knew what retroflexively meant, but I have no idea how to pronounce Ts and Ds not with your teeth.

Re: Odd Pronunciations
Retroflex refers to the cave at the back of your mouth. Try hitting the tip of your tongue against the ridge between that cave part and your palate; chances are it'll produce a clicking sound which you can exploit to pronounce hard Ts and Ds, Rs, certain Sh sounds, and an N sound.
Do that instead with the top of your tongue and you'll be able to produce three different types of R sounds and an ("deep"/"hollow") L sound variant.
