Kira nodded slightly, chewing on her lip. "I-I-I j-just w-w-wanted t-to s-see y-y-you..." she mumbled ashamedly, a little embarrassed at how stupid Luke thought her decision was.

Elena laughed, finding this rather amusing. "Heidi never likes anyone at first, 'cept for Simon. Adeline's scary to everyone 'cept Heidi and Erika, and Erika's my momma- not my real momma, but still- so she's not scary at all. She likes everyone, usually. You just have to stick around, everyone's real nice."

Kira nodded again, still looking a little crestfallen as she untangled Luke from the bushes with her Flow.

Heidi scowled, pulling away from the hug. "Fucking Shima," she muttered, for the second time in one day hoping that the psychic was rotting in hell.

"Flow? I don't have one," Elena sighed, pulling her knees up to her chest. "I guess it's better than Simon's, his Flow just hurts him; it doesn't do anything good."

"I thought you were another hallucination," Luke replied a bit redundantly. "I think I might have... lost it a little these past few years."

He looked over Kira's shoulder for a second.

"Give it a rest," he called to Nathan, otherwise ignoring him. Kira was one thing, Nathan was an entirely different kettle of fish.

Heidi's scowl deepened at Tom's question, though it wasn't because of him. "I turned eighteen about two months ago," she sighed. "And I can't even use my Flow for more than a few minutes without going bat-shit crazy. Dunno how the rest of you did it."

Elena poked at the field, giggling. "Whoa, that's so cool! I wish I had a cool Flow like that!" she smiled.

"I got shipped to some cave in the middle of nowhere, if I'm interpreting correctly. Couldn't stop causing earthquakes for half a year. Probably cos' of my mental issues and that. T'wasn't easy," Tom remembered with difficulty.

"Or what." Nathan responded carefully. "He'd spent too many resources on trying to track everyone down and with Darkness still as his selected power he wasn't going to be nice. He could control the urges now of course but that didn't mean it didn't make him darker.

Luke just laughed bitterly.

"I hallucinate, but even I've got a better grip on reality than you, mate," he replied quietly, the last word mocking and sarcastic. He wanted to stop for Kira's sake, but he wasn't going to take Nathan's comments lying down. After years of suffering the effects of his defeat, he felt he had some right to defend himself.
