Simon took a deep breath, letting it out before replying. "It may sound like I'm acting crazy, but I want you to think about what I'm saying: my flow prevents me from having direct skin to skin contact with anyone. Without my gloves I can touch other people, and if they touch me, well... either I'm in trouble or we could have another repeat of what happened to Benji."

The boy sighed, rubbing his head. "Sure, if Percival is around I can touch people; but what if Joey dies? Maybe not from this battle, but eventually he won't be here, and I'm guessing that'll mean Percival will cease to exist. There would go any chance of me living as a normal human."

Simon's hair fell into his face, hiding his eyes. "I know... I know that I have a lot of people who care about me. But with my flow they can only ever have me at arms reach..."

He felt water start to well up in his eyes and quickly rubbed the moisture away. "Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm going with you and all the other people who can't fight or choose not to."

Elena sniffled, rubbing her eyes as well, before falling quiet. She hesitantly took a step towards Simon, before hugging him tightly, careful not to touch his skin. "I-I'm sorry..." she whimpered.

Nathan grimaced from his position. He was at least twenty miles away from the village and was glancing up at the old mountain that he'd had Tom create. Sat at the very peak of the mountain was Shima's old base. He'd made some changes to it and it served as a fully functioning stronghold complete with tunnels into the mountain and over half a dozen ways out that only Tom and Nathan had known. Dangling in his hand by on a chain of ice was the gem that could bolster a flow tenfold. If he touched it he'd probably be able to end the world with his abilities. If Eithne or Paul touched it the world would probably blow up.

Which was why he was going to get Tom to do it. But not without his help. Thanks to Delmer's old ability Nathan could give Tom the visual instructions on what he wanted to do whilst at the same time stop Tom's hold on the gem if it got dangerous.

He huffed to himself and pocketed the gem. Ryker would probably be stood by the entrance to the village waiting impatiently to begin teleporting away. Nathan himself should probably have been there but he liked the solitude that was presented to him when he Super-sped away. Eithne couldn't keep up with him, Tom couldn't move the earth fast enough to keep pace with him in a flat out sprint.

Often the only reason anyone ever caught up with him was because he stopped and his flow signature led them right too him. But that normally left him with a sufficient enough time to be alone.

But your never quite alone now, are you... eh King?

Nathan scowled at this. He was going to have to work hard to not let the darkness overtake him. It was already affecting him, the tone of his voice was darker, his eyes a more black and if people looked close enough his shadow was moving at random intervals when Nathan himself wasn't.

The torrid scent of despair was also a constant around Nathan now. He wouldn't be able to rest on his laurels though, he had to keep pushing it back so he could fight the battle.

With a dull sigh he struck out with his hand and a tendril of razor sharp darkness carved out a six foot deep trench in the ground next to him. Power never came without a price.

But to remain strong, he would pay that price. In a burst of pale flow Nathan disappeared and began heading back to the village.

Kira started heading back to the treehouse, glad that she could sense Nathan's Flow again. It seemed like he was trying to keep his distance from everyone lately, and that had worried her.

"It's strong," Luke noted quietly. After he had gotten Kira to feel better, he had retreated up onto the treehouse roof. He lay his sword across his lap, inventing it from his waist first. He had taken to carrying it most of the time he was active, half-afraid that the army would be on them sooner than he had been told. Fearful or not, he would be ready.

As Kira approached the treehouse, she called up to Luke. "Jayden's going to find Nathan for us...I tried to tell him he didn't have to, but he said something about trying to get out of training with Zackary," she laughed weakly.

"As good a reason as any, I suppose," Luke replied with a grin. He figured it would be best not to talk about Nathan's Flow with Kira, that it would only upset her. "Jayden's been really helpful lately. I only talked to him once back in the tournament, but he's a nice guy."

"Yeah, he is really nice. I don't think I talked to him at all during the tournament..." Kira mused, trying to remember. She had noticed Nathan's Flow, though she hadn't noticed any changes in it, or rather, she didn't want to.

"Yeah, I suppose so," Luke replied sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "I did let him through unharmed though in the end, so we're cool. Plus, he hasn't held a grudge, which is why I thought he was being really cool."

"Yeah, that's really nice of him," Kira smiled, a vine taking her up to the roof. She frowned slightly, seeing that Luke was still carrying his sword around with him, though she didn't want to say anything about it.
