Heidi rambled on a bit, forgetting what point she'd actually been trying to make.

Tom couldn't see her though it might have provided him with a better idea as to what was ailing Heidi if he could.

"Maybe that ain't a bad idea. Nathan wants me to bring his old fortress here, so I wonder what it'll be like with even more people than are in the village in there. Not easy, I imagine."

"Yeah, I had got myself a bunch of comfy stuff so I could make a pile and get off the earth, but it was all destroyed by Tabaris, so I'm gonna have to start looking again," Tom replied ruefully. He'd lost a lot of stuff in the destruction.
