Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"That guy that leveled the Illuminati village, that was pretty nasty. I was even having trouble getting a hold of his blood for some reason... But didn't he say something about being the strongest one? If that's the case, I don't think we have much to worry about..." Heidi mused aloud, running a hand through her hair.

"He did say he was part of team though, so they might be with him. I swear he either had eyes on the back of his head or some psychic supporting him, so I figure if we take her out first then he's manageable. Although, you might get loads of people saying they're the strongest. I think Nathan's supposed to be our strongest but he got dicked on cos' he's a spaz," Tom replied wording, voicing all his thoughts at once, which was unusual for him.

"Or maybe the psychic'll just get confused in the heat of the battle?" Heidi suggested hopefully. Ugh, psychics. They reminded her waaaay too much of Shima.

"Possibility," Tom admitted, though he didn't like leaving thins like that to chance. Plus, they might have multiple psychics. There were only so many different abilities, it seemed. He idly wonder if he'd ever run up against someone with his ability, and whether or not they'd be blind like he was. "I dunno, I reckon we have a shot of winning it. Homegroud advantage if nothin' else."

Heidi frowned slightly. She had to disagree with Tom there. They seemed pretty screwed. "Simon wanted to stay behind," she announced after a few moments of silence. "I told him that he should go, and eventually he gave in, but he was still pretty keen on fighting."

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"What? Well I'm glad he's going in the end, at least. Good call there," Tom nodded relievedly. There a whole truckload of problems with Simon fighting, he sufficed to say that it was good he was going. No matter how optimistic Tom tried to be, he couldn't quite convince himself that there would be casualties and they were more likely to lose than win.

Heidi seemed to relax a little at Tom's reply. She'd been doubting herself again. Then again, what if they were both wrong? She'd been in the tournament when she was even younger than him. She didn't want to hold him back, but she didn't exactly want him to grow up, either. "He said he'd come back to help when he was stronger, but hopefully this battle won't last that long."

"Not unless the battle lasts a couple years, and I don't think we could hold out for a week," Tom replied grimly. "I mean, I know people like you, and the pair in the forest, were only his age in the tournament, but we'll be fightin' adults and trained killers."

"I guess that makes sense. I just don't wanna hold him back," Heidi frowned.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"I get you. Just... I don' wanna be rude, but his power doesn't help him either," The big man replied quietly. He understood how important it was to let him develop, but if the enemy realised what his power did, they'd see him as a weapon as much as an enemy. "So I reckon 's best to keep him safe until he becomes more capable. Maybe get Paul to teach him how to shoot."

"No way in hell am I letting that fucktard, dick-headed--" Heidi started angrily, before catching herself and immediately stopping. "...Maybe."

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"Hmmm," Tom hummed stoically, which could have meant anything, though he kept his poker face. So her problem most likely had something to do with Paul, since they were usually friendly, or a bit more, and it would have to be something drastic. They had been spending quite a bit of time together... Or it could be an argument. Realising he'd fallen silent while thinking, he felt the need to pick up the conversation again.
"I'm sure we'll figure something out if we're all still here after the battle."

"Don't talk like that," Heidi muttered. She didn't really like to think about her friends dead. It was probably a miracle that no one she'd particularly cared about had died, but she would have liked to push the imminent casualties from the upcoming battle to the back of her mind.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Better to stay optimistic and confident," he agreed apologetically. Hmm, it was probably an argument, he reasoned, still riding his previous train of thought. Jumping back to the battle, he oddly accepted the fact not all of them might make it, and merely resolved himself to saving as many as he could. This didn't stop him from feeling nervous though, and unsure of his own strength.

"...Dammit, now I'm kind of sad," Heidi frowned, running a hand through her hair. She needed a topic change, but it was hard to think of anything other than their impending doom.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"I dunno if you heard, but it turns out Shima had out a trigger in Eithne to keep him loyal and now he's all better again," Tom piped up suddenly, figuring any happy news would be welcome and that Heidi would he happy to hear she had a friend back.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
Heidi blinked in surprise. "Fucking Shima! When I die, I'm going to kick his motherfucking ass for the rest of goddamn eternity!" she hissed. So Eithne hadn't betrayed them? That was welcome news. She really didn't like hating him, but it was kind of necessary since he was- or the trigger was- a giant dick.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"I know. I reckon it was after he brought you and Simon there, cos' he seemed to be himself when he was leaving," Tom replied, though he didn't like thinking about the tournament. Too many unpleasant memories, and it tended to spur memories about his own trigger, which were even more unpleasant. "Good to have him back."

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"...Yeah. He was definitely Eithne at that point. I mean, I knew I was already gonna leave at that point, and he was talking about coming with me. The trigger wouldn't have wanted to leave," Heidi explained, getting lost in thought for a few moments. She never did get Simon a wagon, now that she thought about it.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"Well, he's Eithne now, too. 'S why he had it out with Nathan 'fore they both got their asses kicked," Tom explained, in a better mood now that he was trying to think about another friend rather than the ones lost in the tournament.

"Is that what happened?" Heidi asked rhetorically, before groaning. "Ugh, I've been avoiding him this whole time and I almost feel like shit because of it. Maybe I should apologize."

"Don't be, you weren't to know he had a trigger. It ain't nobody's fault, we should all just be glad people're back to normal. Speaking of which, I might be going away for a few days before the battle," Tom remembered with a mental grimace.

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
"I wish," Tom chuckled at her question. "Nathan's darkness side is breaking loose all over again, so he wants me to go keep him from killing everyone while he unleashes it up in the mountains and tries to control it. Kinda like what happened with my trigger, I guess, except it's me against full-force darkness Nathan this time."

Re: Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer
Heidi scowled, not exactly fond of Nathan's darkness. "I can try 'nd help, if y' want. Not sure how much use I'd be, though."
