"I tripped g-getting th-the firewood for th-this, um, I cut myself awhile a-ago...o-once I got sick while w-we were outside, a-and Luke had t-to carry me all th-the way back to the forest, um...I'm j-just a mess a-a lot of th-the time..." Kira laughed nervously, keeping her gaze towards the ground embarrassedly.

Melaney's shadows just creeped up and took all the food off her plate, a red hot embarrassment flooding her cheeks as she just stared at the table.

Kira glanced at the shadows, but didn't make any mention of it. Her hand tightened slightly on her fork, but otherwise, she didn't react.

Once Melaney started to think about those years she couldn't stop, and a slow tremor began to overtake her. To hide this, Melaney just blanketed herself in a thin sheet of shadows, just enough to tint herself grey.
