"Why should I be in a good mood, Paul?" Heidi asked, raising her head slightly with a scowl on her face.

"Because no one has died yet," Paul shrugged.

"Oh crap," Luke replied, looking worried. "Well, good for the forest, but I may need to find shelter."

Kira laughed slightly, sitting up. "If you want to go back, we can go back. I can always make a shelter, though, remember," she told Luke, giggling.

"That's where you're wrong," Heidi stated, looking down at the table. "Ade's dead. Hell, she's decomposing."

"Yeah, a shelter would be nice thanks," Luke replied with a sheepish smile. What had Nathan said he was when he had given him back his power? Luke was useless in rain.

Kira's hands glowed green for a moment, a small shelter made of vines sprouting up around them. "That okay?" she asked.

"That's great," Luke replied with a smile, hoping it would keep the water out, though he was a bit unsure about vines being able to keep out the rain.

"It's made the same way the treehouse is, and that keeps out rain. I said I'd protect you, didn't I?" Kira smiled softly, laying back down and snuggling against Luke. "I might not be that powerful, but I'm sure I can keep you from getting wet."

"Well you've done a fantastic job of it these last couple of months, anyhow," Luke assured her with a smile, putting an arm around her when she lay back against him.

Kira's face reddened a bit as her smile widened slightly. "I'm glad... You've done a good job of keeping me happy these past couple months, too."

"And there's nothing you can do that will change that," Paul simple said, "Everything dies, just be glad she's been around as long as she has."

"We make a hell of a team, eh?" Luke smiled back.

Heidi glared at Paul, standing up abruptly, anger radiating off her for a second, before it disappeared. "...I need a drink," she muttered, digging through her makeshift fridge.

Kira laughed happily, kissing Luke's cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too," Luke told her back, laughing along. He was happy, his time at Kira's only seemed to be improving. It really was the best decision he'd made in a long time.

Kira laughed for a little while, slowly quieting. "Hey, Luke, when's your birthday?" she asked, realizing she didn't know.

"August. August eighteenth," Luke replied bemusedly. "When's yours?"

"July twentieth. I think. I...um...don't remember all that well... When I hit my head..." Kira trailed off, laughing nervously. "But August eighteenth. I'll remember that."

Paul sighed. "Sorry," He apologized, "too long in the wasteland."

Heidi grunted, pulling out a couple cans of beer and starting to drink them. "I know th't we're all gonna die, I'm not stupid, Paul. I'd just like us all t' get old 'nd die naturally."

"Don't we all," Paul replied sullenly.

Heidi sighed, finishing her beer and glancing over at Paul. "Can't we just both admit that I fucked up everybody's life and stop fighting? I don't like it."

"Heidi," Paul looked at her, "I can name three people's lives you haven't even touched. Saying that you fucked everyone's life up suggests that everyone's life is ruined."

"Not even close," Paul frowned, "You haven't fucked me up. Quite the opposite, in fact."
