"No," Tom replied bluntly. He was too cynical to expect something like that. He believed trying to make the best of what they had was the best way forward, but hopes had never got him anywhere. "Not for a few generations."

Nathan nodded in agreement. "God my life is going to be depressing... if I do live forever... I'll have to watch all of you die." He smirked at this thought and lit one of his own cigarette's.

"Even if you didn't live forever. You're strong so you'd die later," Tom replied, gruffly. "Besides, look at it this way, you get to watch civilisation grow back again. You get to watch us rise from the ashes of apocalypse to where we once were. You get to become a living legend, someone who witnessed the fall and rise of the human race, who fought in the tournament, who gave the next generation their history of that kind of stuff."

"The next generation is fucked then..." Nathan said good naturedly. "Do you seriously see me as the wise man informing everyone of what has happened?"

"That's a fair point. Maybe just keep it as a campfire story and get someone else to write it down," Tom replied dryly.

"That works... or I'll try and gather some people with Instant Regeneration and let them help spread words... hell I could start up Christianity again if I wanted to and claim to be Jesus."

"Hopefully people these days have enough sense than to trust someone walking around claiming to be God. If it worked it could be bitching, but you don't really have another religion to piggyback on like Jesus did. Unless you're not expecting to gain anything more than devoted followers."

"Nah... I'll just let the men and children think I'm a crazy hermit who chat's shit whilst the women think of me as the amazing sex god who gives them infinite pleasure."

"I can make you a hermit cave if you want. Give you a sign over it saying 'that weird bloke with the stupid hair you're too nice to tell to piss off'. Bit wordy, but I feel it really sums up the situation. I'll be sure to give you access to whatever's left of my alcohol collection before I end it all, anyway," Tom replied, the last offer genuine.

Nathan nodded with a grin. "Sounds like fun."

"I'm sure you'll manage, anyway," Tom replied dryly, shifting the body on his shoulders into a more comfortable position for himself.

"I'm sorry I can't be of much help..." Sage said a distance away from the group. She had started to walk back home.

The hours continued on, until the sun rose on a new day. Not like anyone could really see it behind the rain clouds, though.

Heidi slept rather peacefully in her bed, having not slept in it in a few months. She wished that Simon was around, though, she missed him.

Kira was curled up in a corner, still awake. Every time she felt herself dozing off, she pricked her arm with a thorn, using the pain to stay awake. She couldn't let Nathan in here.

Elena was still asleep, hugging her pillow.

Nathan was stood with a cigarette perched between his lips. He had a brown material cloak on and had pulled the hood up over his head. It would only be two months and he'd told Tom and Jacob to begin the preparations.

He'd sort it all out when he got back... and by then... they'd be under siege.

"I'll see you later," Sage said to Melaney before leaving her house to go to where she and Zack were supposed to meet Nathan.

Adeline frowned, watching the rain clouds. A black veil covered most of her partially rotten face.

Kriska was in the church, watching over the little boy who was somehow still alive. She let out a sigh of relief, pulled out a screwdriver and began messing with her prosthetic arm.

Heidi walked over to Adeline, biting her lip. "...You okay?" she asked. If only she hadn't let Ade go up there alone, she knew she was going up to the mountains, she just didn't do anything about it...

"We might have to figure out how to get you a new body..." Heidi murmured, looking at what was left of her friend.

Paul was atop the main gates, staring off into the horizon. He could feel them coming...it wouldn't be more than a few hours until they broke the horizon.

Adeline sighed. She already knew that getting a new body would be near impossible, and even if she could she would rather not. She checked her pocket watch and saw that it was off by a few hours.

Heidi bit her lip at Ade's silence, shoving her hands in her pockets. "I...I'm sorry..." she mumbled. She could have helped her, but she was too busy with her own happy life, and now her teammate was rotting.
