Tom gave Jamie a nod, feeling like he was setting a bad first impression with an unmoving body on his shoulder.

"Monster, eh?" he muttered, almost inaudibly in Nathan's ear once Jamie was far enough away that there was no risk.

"Yeah... and I know... why do you think I got as far away as I could?" Nathan retorted rhetorically. "I need your help when I get back. You're the only one with a quick enough offence to be able to fight it when it controls me. Whilst you're doing that I'll have to master the ability..."

He sighed. The task seemed monumental. He'd used Shima's research and every single person who the adult had researched with darkness had been unable to master it. The ability had consumed each and everyone of them.

Only three had ever made it to adult level and out of all of them only Nathan had lasted as long with it.

"I know Shima's research, you know," Tom murmured after a second, taking a drag on a cigarette he had lit to destress him. He was finding himself stretched thinner and thinner recently, probably due to the influx of knowledge and memories.

"So I know what you're thinking," he finished after he was done. "And you're wondering if you can make it, the task is too hard. Think like that, you're damn right you can't. Stay positive, as hard as that may be for someone like you. It preys on negativity. I'm here for support, so are your Illuminati. Make full use of that while you can."

Tom did retroactively notice he differentiated Illuminati from himself, which he found interesting, though predictable. He didn't like authority, he liked the idea of being a free man. The Illuminati could be worth a brief try though, which was a small part of the reason he'd joined.

"No one's ever done it before..." Nathan commented before frowning. "But then again... Shima's research on Power Absorption was exactly positive either." He smiled as he thought over it.

"You know... thanks to Instant Regeneration... I can't age or die... and the amount of abilities that can be absorbed gets larger and larger the longer you have the ability. In theory... by the time I hit sixty I'll be able to use roughly fourty abilities."

"Hell, I probably won't make sixty," Tom murmured, going back to his cigarette, making sure he wasn't giving anyone any second-hand smoke. "And if I do I'm sure I'll have lost it."

"Good luck with that," Tom replied, finishing off his cigarette. "I'm landstuck with my blindness. I'd like to think there's a nicer place than Pangaea, but I just don't think there's anything more than this out there any more."
