"G-good," Luke replied. "Good."

He was silent for a while then, before piping up again, stuttering worse than before. "Just that F-f-flow, r-really freaked me out."

"I-It's alright, it f-freaked both of us out," Kira smiled, trying to swallow back her own stuttering. She didn't sound very convincing or comforting when she stuttered.

Kira sighed, fidgeting uncomfortably. She knew Luke couldn't possible know, but she still felt bad. She was still afraid of people, fire, small spaces, anything that reminded her of that even after six years. "Y-You're human. It's okay," she repeated, her voice saddening slightly.

"Yeah, I know. It was more that maybe that could have been my fault that worried me. M-makes me wonder if Eithne was right," Luke replied, stumbling over words again as he voiced his fear.

"I...I think N-Nathan's gotten better...b-but he's still not th-the same person who..." Kira trailed off, thinking about the first week of the tournament. "H-He's not the same p-person who was our fr-friend."

"M-Maybe you should give him a-another chance, but...I d-don't want to force you into anything u-until you think he's g-getting better."

"I...I dunno," Luke replied eventually. It was hard to let go of something that he had spent so long nurturing. He blamed Nate for just about everything that went wrong. The fact that the man could just appear one day, despite everything that he did, say that he was a good guy, and instantly come back into everyone's lives was rubbing salt in the wounds.

"Yeah, you're right," Luke replied. Kira was always right. Except about Nathan, he tried to tell himself. He was in one of his strange moments of niceness, where the tough shell cracked and gave way to a kinder boy. In a while it would pass, and he would be back to the more cynical and bitter Luke. But for the moment, that man wasn't there.

"Maybe I was too harsh to Eithne," he eventually responded.

"Do y-you think so? I d-don't know, 'cuz he scared m-me when he snuck u-up on us, s-so I might be a b-bit biased..." Kira laughed quietly, trying to cheer Luke up a little.

"I meant the suddenly appearing thing. And that Eithne is very powerful," Luke replied, before relenting. "But yeah, Lucas is a little shocking."

Kira nodded, her smile widening slightly. "I...I know b-bad people, Luke. You're n-not a bad person," she told him. "You care a-about people, a-and y-you put up with m-me, among other things," she laughed.

"Thanks, Kira," Luke smiled again. His forgiving mood had passed, but even cynical Luke was nice to Kira, and the childish goofy smile was showing up again.

Seeing Luke's smile, Kira's face lit up. Unlike Luke, she no longer resembled the sickly girl of the tournament and had a healthier air around her. Even after five years, her smile had remained the same, though its frequency had changed. "I'm just telling you th-the truth."
