Kira looked up, seeing Luke come back. "I-I c-can carry th-them..." she offered, the plants untangling themselves from around her legs.

"Nah, they're not heavy," Luke replied, carrying them in his free hand.

"O-Okay..." Kira responded, before looking back at Erika. "Th-Thank you..." she repeated, stepping closer to Luke. She wanted to get out of here.

Kaylee groaned. "Fine then, be alone, hope you're happy," she shot at him, stalking away.

"Get well soon, and thanks for the food," Luke called over his shoulder, leading Kira out of the village relievedly.

Kira held on to the back of Luke's shirt, sighing in relief as they left the village. "I-I don't like i-it there..." she mumbled, stating a bit of the obvious.

"Me neither," Luke replied, letting loose a sigh of relief, a bit ashamed that he had let his cool slip.

Kira glanced at the jar of noodles in Luke's hand. "Let's hurry back, s-so we can finish c-cooking before it gets d-dark," she suggested, looking up at the sky, the sun setting.

"I will be," Zackary responded to the girl as he continued on his way.

Luke nodded, quickening his pace towards the forest. He was looking forward to his food, and was keen to get his mind off being in the village. He hated crowds, he hated his injuries, and more than anything in the world, he loathed Nathan for being the source of his problems.

Kira looked over at Luke as the entered the forest, a slight frown crossing her face. "Wh-What's the matter? You look upset..." she asked.

"Just... just thinking," Luke replied, shaking his head as if to clear it.

Kira's frown deepened for a moment, before it turned into a smile as they reached the fire pit. She picked up the now cool pot. "I'll clean this a-and refill it..." she mumbled, before heading towards the river.

"Want me to do anything while you do?" Luke asked, not wanting to explain.

"C-Can you light the f-fire?" Kira asked, looking over her shoulder at Luke.

"Yeah, sure," Luke replied, going to get firewood. Once he had it, he lit a match, amplifying the spark with his Flow carefully.

Erika nodded before taking the leaves and walking back to the house. Won't get anything done with a stomacheache...

"Hadden ditched us." Josh said with a huff.

Kira quickly returned with the pot full of water. "H-Here," she stuttered, eying the fire nervously.

Luke took the water from her, going about it in the same way he had before. His stomach rumbled.

"S-Sorry, the food should be ready s-soon..." Kira mumbled apologetically.

"Ain't your fault," Luke replied easygoingly. "'Sides, hunger is the best sauce."

Kira nodded gratefully. "Alright..." she mumbled, tugging at hr jacket.

After a mostly silent while, Luke perked up again, taking the pot off the fire.

"All ready."

Kira's face broke out in a grin. "I'll go get some bowls," she smiled, running to the treehouse, coming back with two chipped bowls.

Luke dealt out the noodles and tomato sauce equally to each bowl.

"There. Dig in," he said happily.
