Kira bit her lip, sighing in relief as Luke started to cool down. How could he joke about this? It was horrible. He had to be in a lot of pain... He should have let Nathan heal him.

Luke grit his teeth, pushing himself up off his hands. It was horrible, the burning pain, but he was getting more and more used to it. It was becoming more and more a part of him. He didn't know anyone who could heal him, and he damn well wasn't going to let himself into Nathan's debt, or get his hopes up only to have them dashed. Better to take what you got and keep moving.

"B-Being used to it doesn't m-mean anything. It's...it's st-still pain," Kira protested weakly. He doesn't let her get cut to stop some bullets, but he'd keep hurting himself to get something done? How was that fair?

"Well the pain doesn't go away so easily. Hasn't in five years. Sure it might be a bit worse now, but only a bit. I've managed this far," Luke replied, shrugging. To him, his situation, and Kira's situation were completely different, however similar they may be in actuality.

Kira looked down at the ground, pulling at her jacket. Why was Luke trying so hard to separate himself from her? They were both equal people, shouldn't they be allowed to suffer through the same amount of pain? "Y-You'll get y-yourself killed..." she mumbled quietly, more to herself than Luke.

"N-No!" Kira cried out, her voice getting surprisingly loud for a second, before quieting back down. "Y-You'll...you'll blow y-yourself up..." To her own surprise, she was crying, so she kept her head down, trying not to let Luke see. She didn't want to lose him the same way she'd lost her mother.

Luke felt awful, but he didn't know what to say.

"Hey, Kira, I'm trying my best not to, but you saw what happened today. It's been ages since I used my Flow, and I still blew up. I'm doing what I can to limit it, and I managed not to-" Then Luke saw the burns on Kira's arms and stopped. "Oh Jesus, Kira, I'm so sorry."

Kira reluctantly nodded, not wanting to get in a fight with Luke over this. There had to be other options. "T-Tell m-me when y-you're feeling okay e-enough t-to move...I'll h-help you g-get back to th-the forest..."
