Tom's body twisted, the beam glancing off him and knocking him spinning, though Shima quickly righted himself. Tom was dragged underground, keeping him safe, and Shima launched a column of rock at Nathan, along with a wall from behind the teen. The ground opened up beneath Heidi, Shima trying to make her fall out of sight.

Shima smirked, completely unaffected.

"Still not quite as good as I am, especially not on my home field," he grinned, but Tom caught him by surprise with a spar of rock and slammed him through the walls of the room, launching him out of the room and into a very different world than they had entered the room from. Ruined skyscrapers reached up to the sky in blocks of four, the desolate city stretching out endlessly in Tom's mind. The buildings had no front, only crumbling rock and some ironwork here and there.

Nathan smirked at the column and the wall. He let darkness fluctuate around him and then a tornado of razor sharp shadows spun around tearing up anything that was near him.

Sensing where Shima!Tom was hiding he leapt into the air and sent a massive tendril of darkness into the ground, it then expanded and caused the earth to tear apart.

Another tendril wrapped around Heidi's waist and threw her up into the air.

Back in Tom's mind, Nathan frowned and joined his ally. "Looks like we'll have to beat him until my telepathy works." Lightning began to cackle on Nathan's skin the sparks began to morph into a a red colour. With a simple snap of his arm a forked bolt hurtled towards Shima at the speed of light.

Shima vanished, reappearing and grabbing Tom. They vanished, and suddenly Tom felt himself plummeting from a great height. He cast out his mind, rock reaching out from the skyscrapers to slow his fall, but when he finally hit the ground, though he was completely unharmed, he found himself in a different part of the city. He began to cast out his mind to locate Shima and Nathan, walking towards a vague sense of Flow.

Shima reappeared about a hundred metres from Nathan, blasting him backwards with Telekinesis.

The earth Heidi was holding onto crumbled, but she was already gone. More tentacles of rock reached up to pull her to her death, while a fist of earth sprung up inside the tornado to punch Nathan in the face with startling force. Tom himself, or at least his body, was further away, hidden in the dustcloud, having moved again away from Nathan's attack.

Heidi whacked at the tendrils of earth with her spear while in the air, mentally reminding herself never to get into a fight with Tom.

The fist smashed into Nathan and was then torn apart. It had impacted with Nathan's mask of darkness which merely readjusted itself to destroy Tom's attack and protect Nathan.

In a flurry of Super Speed he appeared in front of the rocks that were pulling at Heidi and slashed them with a sword he created out of darkness. She fell towards him and he caught her.

"If I can get you close to him, you need to freeze the blood in his limbs." He said.

In Tom's mind, Nathan shot back but quickly reasserted himself. Against Telekinesis if you went on the defensive then you were as good as beaten. He knew that from personal experience.

Again he disappeared and reappeared in front of Shima, lightning stopped and instead darkness curled around him and he shot a barrage of needles at his former employer.

Shima disappeared again, glad to finally be able to use his own powers again. Nathan wasn't pushed this time, he was grabbed and hurled into one of the buildings. Shima clenched a fist, the roof above the teen beginning to collapse on him.

Teleportation and Telekinesis, how I've missed you...

The earth in between the two erupted, like a volcano without the lava. Shima was beginning to get into the groove of Tom's Flow, and he wasn't the type to hold back for safety like Tom himself was.

Heidi scowled. "I don't want to hurt--" she was cut off by the ground erupting. Backing away from the crack, she ran towards Shima, trying to get a lock on his blood. Sorry...

Nathan growled as he used darkness to soften his blow and then with more Super Speed he appeared in front of Shima. With a slash of his sword he sent a crescent of darkness at his former boss. He sped again and slashed. This was repeated four times in under half a second and four crescents closed in on Shima at once.

Nathan Super Sped in front of Tom!Shima again and aimed a darkness laced punch against him before retreating into the air, holding himself up with a platform of shadows.

"You remember that skeleton of mine, boss?" he queried. "You know, the one that you said with enough training would grant me the strongest defensive technique in existence? As well making me more than well enough equipped to fight and defeat anyone of the Big Five and possibly even yourself?"

"I haven't quite mastered it yet, but it's power has increased tenfold since you last saw it."

From seemingly nowhere, darkness began to gather around Nathan covering his whole body completely. It formed into a sphere that ended up stretching to a distance of five hundred feet in radius. And then it was almost as if it were all compressed and Nathan covered in skeletal black armour that spiked menacingly. And in his hand he gripped a spiked spear of pure darkness that curved wickedly and had what looked like a skull at its blunt end.

His flow had become so dense that despair radiated from within him almost like an ocean.

His eyes smirked as the half mask still covered his lower face. "I've worked out how to turn it into the ultimate attack through compression."

Shima!Tom gestured first, dropping into the ground. While Nathan's first slash would have been fast enough to kill Tom, dust formed up around the blade almost instantaneously, slowing the blade down to a crawl so Shima!Tom could escape. Earth rose up in front of Nathan in the form of a large man, a sword slamming into the ground and creating a small quake. Then it lunged at Nathan, moving faster than a man ever could. Another one rose up behind Heidi, grabbing her by the neck and pitching her back the way she came.

Shima himself grinned, a sword with a diamond-like quality appearing in his hand as he faced Nathan from a distance.

"Not quite enough to defeat me, though, Nathan. You need Tom here to do that," Shima called across the gap, an immense pressure weighing down on Nathan's head. Nathan began to feel intense sadness at fighting his old master, and the greed of being able to control Tom's mind was made stronger than the urge to fix it and destroy the trigger.

Nathan smirked and twirled his spear. Knocking the earth man's fist back. In another spin he severed the earth man's head and right arm. Darkness trailed off him as he moved. "Funny thing, Shima. My attacking prowess is now just as strong as my ultimate defence. So too are my speed and general combat skills."

As if too prove a point he stabbed the spear through the earth man and split it in two.

Nathan let out a snarl as he fought the feeling and let out exactly eighty four seeker missiles of darkness. "STAY OUT OF MY HEAD!" He snarled.

As soon as he fired the attack he yelled out. "Come on, Tom! This is your mind get up here and help me get rid of him!"

The earth man regenerated instantly, dust forming into rock to heal it up easily, as the sword slammed into Nathan's stomach, fortunately blunt, but sending the man flying. The man dashed forward, moving fast enough that Intuitive Aptitude would be necessary to see it. It grabbed Nathan's leg before he hit the ground, using his momentum to hurl him forward at the ruins of the old tower.

The buildings around them started to crumble, Shima moving rocks to intercept the missiles and sending out a push at Nathan with telekinesis. But the shout had gotten Tom's attention, and the crumbling buildings turned into a dust cloud. This cloud surrounded Shima, cutting his flesh and launching him through one of the skyscrapers, though it kept its grip. Shima teleported away, looking for a breather, but was made acutely aware of someone breathing down his neck, as Tom grinned.

"You're not thinking properly, Shima," he said, grabbing the man's neck as he tried to teleport away. "Could it be that you're having difficulty using my mind?"

Shima launched Tom away, but earth reached up to grab him and set him down carefully, while a fist of rock slammed Shima into the ground. Tom was in his element, and he was far superior to Shima's control of the earth.

Heidi skidded across the ground for a few yards, slowly pushing herself to her feet. She started running towards Shima again, looking a little worn out. She didn't want to attack Tom.

Nathan again smirked and as he was about to be flung he stabbed a darkness spike on his armour into the figure so that instead of being thrown he spun around with the figure and slashed right through it.

He Super Sped again but this time with even more speed so that it appeared he was teleporting. He appeared behind Shima!Tom and drove the skull side of the spear into his ally/former boss' head before drawing a cut across his stomach. That'll make Heidi's job easier.

Back inside Tom's mind, Nathan had recovered and Super Sped to where Tom held Shima down. He stabbed his sword into Shima's stomach effectively pinning him to the ground even more and also if Tom was smart enough to notice it, allowing shard of rock and rubble to enter the Psychic's body.

Shima!Tom's head was knocked spinning, the large man's body stumbling against the ruins of tower. When Nathan went for the cut, however, the ground at his feet turned to sand, causing the man to lose solid footing. This made the slash easier to avoid. It was quite obvious what Nathan was going for, and he didn't count Heidi as a threat. Shima gestured, and the earth Nathan was on rose up away from the two, a band of earth wrapping around the boy's head. The dust swirled in front of Heidi, obscuring Tom from view, and when it was slightly clearer, the man was gone, away from even Nathan's sight. The earth opened again at Heidi's feet, Shima running out of original ideas.

Tom gestured, and a piece of earth slipped into Shima's bloodstream. Shima suddenly realised what the man was going to do to him, but it was too late. Tom walked up to the man's pinned and battered body, laying a massive hand on his forehead. From the ground up, Shima began to turn to stone, stopping only at the mental invader's neck.

"Checkmate."

Nathan's mask spiked and tore the band away completely. When it was done it covered Nathan's face completely with only two slits for eye sockets.

"I can only barely maintain this without having to give into the darkness." He announced in a hollow voice. With a quick somersault he drove his spear skull first into the ground. The earth began to shift as Nathan poured darkness into him and spirals of darkness began to shoot out at random intervals like geysers.

Once he'd located Shima!Tom, Nathan let the mask return to half measures and he shot forth, stabbing the skull side into Shima!Tom's stomach and then spinning it up and smashing it as hard as he could onto a spot where he knew one of Tom's muscles was situated; deliberately avoiding internal organs and bones.

Nathan concentrated and using increased Telepathy he managed to grab hold of Shima's own hold on Tom and begin to slowly destroy it. Blood began to trickle from both of his nostrils as he fought the man. Shima's body began to crack and turn to dust but it wasn't happening quick enough and Nathan felt the barrier becoming even stronger to defeat.

"Tom you have to let go of whatever negative emotion, memory or thought that Shima has attached himself too. Whatever it is, whilst that remains I can't completely beat him!" A golden light began to radiate Nathan as more of his crimson blood began to hit the inside of Tom's mind.

Tom spasmed, the hit causing him to cough up some blood, as he doubled over. Shima was losing physical control as the mental struggle continued.

Tom sighed, closing his eyes. Building crumbled around him, a few here and there throughout the city. It seemed each building was a strand of memories, and the ones crumbling were the more negative ones. Eventually the crumbling had stopped, and Tom opened his eyes, completely milk-white from using his Flow, even though he wasn't currently using it.

"Done," he announced, a warm smile breaking out on his bearded face. He seemed to finally have peace of mind.

Heidi roared in anger as Nathan cut Tom, the roar turning into a scream as she found herself falling. She stabbed her spear into the wall of the hole, hanging close to the wall and breaking off the outer half of her spear, stabbing them both into the wall to pull herself back up.

With Tom's announcement the golden light circulated in Nathan's palm.

"Leave!" He yelled and smashed his palm straight through Shima's control, completely destroying the trigger. He gave a Tom a nod before he disappeared.

Out in the real world Nathan stopped using his flow and collapsed forth on the floor his energy all but depleted from having to use many different flows at the same time as well as fight two battles against opponents who were the same level as him.

Slowly he forced himself back up to his knees. "It's done..." He said quietly.

Tom's eyes went from blue to white as the same grin broke out in the real world. He helped Nathan back to his feet, the man's body still strong after all the strain it was put through.

"Thank you," he said sincerely.

"Anytime." Nathan responded with his first real grin in years. "I did promise you two years ago. Has your memory returned? Do you remember?" His Instant Regeneration began to do its job and slowly but surely he felt his energy returning.
