"...D'you think Eithne would use the trigger?" Tom asked after a second. "I mean, I didn't think he would, as you probably hears, but now I'm not so sure. As far as I know, only me, you, Eithne, Nathan, and probably that Oliver guy know the trigger phrase."

"Yeah..." Heidi trailed off. Maybe with the Illuminati around, it wasn't the best time to leave. Damn, she had wanted to get her and Tom's little adventure over with as soon as possible, but it didn't seem like that was going to be the case.

Tom grunted affirmatively, not remembering a whole lot about what shape clouds tended to take.

"You tend not to see them in the shape of birds often, though," he replied, hoping he remember rightly.

"Nope. Clouds are weird," Heidi confirmed. It had been a rather off topic comment, it wasn't like she had any deep meaning behind it, but hopefully she could at least succeed in distracting Tom from seemingly imminent time when the fragment would take him over. "One of them looks like an ice cream cone. I haven't had ice cream since...I dunno," she stated, struggling to remember. "I remember I liked it a lot."

"Been years and years since I've had anything but Wierd Beast Stew and assorted plants. 'Cept for the tower. At least after the challenges they had your ick of tasty food," Tom replied. "'Course, then there were the challenges, so it didn't really even out, not on that count."

Heidi absentmindedly ran her hands over her arms, feeling the scars that crisscrossed them. "Challenges sucked, but the food was pretty damn good," she chuckled. "Gotta feel bad for Simon, Acer was the first time he'd had a lot of those desserts."

"He was an odd kid," Tom agreed. "Though most of us are. He seems to be lot happier and, for want of a more accurate term, normal. At least by our standards. It's good to see him happy, though."
